Wang Chuanfu might well have popped the champagne corks recently. Certainly not in a large group and definitely not in a place where photographers could lurk. The founder of BYD does not like to be in the spotlight. But he had a reason to celebrate: In the fourth quarter of 2023, BYD came very close to reaching Tesla's global BEV sales figures. With over 430,000 vehicles sold, only 3,500 cars were missing to catch up with the U.S. competitor. The year 2024 will be exciting: BYD will do everything to leave the rival behind.
