CustomCells and Kreisel, an Austrian supplier of high-performance battery systems, are working together on the development of two new cell concepts. One is intended to score points with its high energy density, while the other should impress with an optimized overall cost structure.

As part of the joint development work, the partners will also discuss the global supply chain, material availability, technical and commercial risks and technology readiness level (TRL). CustomCells will forecast the electrochemical performance and evaluate the electrochemical and thermal stability of the cell concepts. A risk analysis of cell development and mass production will also be carried out. "The aim of this collaboration is of course to identify the best and optimal cell for future applications. At the same time, we want to positively influence cost structures and production strategies," emphasizes Philipp Kreisel, Managing Director of Kreisel Electric, who founded the company together with his brothers Markus and Johann Kreisel in 2014. "Together with CustomCells, we analyze all requirements and conditions to define what this ultimately means for the final cell. Factors such as format, cell design and chemistry are just some of the key aspects that need to be considered. We are absolute experts when it comes to getting the best out of batteries. That's why we create the foundation for Kreisel's industry-proven exceptional performance and safety at the cell level."

In 2021, John Deere acquired a majority stake in Kreisel Electric. The Austrian company, based in Rainbach im Mühlkreis, manufactures standardized high-voltage battery systems and charging stations for commercial, off-highway, marine and motorsport applications. (se)
