The Audi Group is entering a strategic partnership with UST from California, involving the acquisition of a majority stake in Italdesign. Lamborghini, the current parent company of Italdesign, is part of the Audi Group and will retain a significant stake. This ensures that Audi remains a long-term strategic partner of Italdesign and an important customer. Through the majority takeover by UST, a strong partnership is formed, combining the expertise of the Americans in the fields of automotive engineering, artificial intelligence, software-defined vehicle development, and digital ecosystem design with Italdesign's extensive knowledge in vehicle and product design, engineering, prototyping, small series production, and automotive electronics. The range of services will then extend from early concept and design through hardware and software development to production systems—all for the development of fully modern, digital vehicles, according to the company.

UST Wants to Honor the Italian Heritage

Furthermore, UST and Italdesign plan to expand this integrated approach to a global level. UST will enable Italdesign to expand its international presence in over 30 countries. As the new majority owner, UST will assume operational responsibility and promises to honor and further develop Italdesign’s Italian heritage, design culture, and employee talent. Italdesign has been part of the Volkswagen Group since 2010. As is often the case, this transaction is subject to regulatory approvals. UST and the Audi Group have not disclosed the investment value or other contract details.
