The planned investment of over €250 million (approx. $273 million) is Air Liquide's largest investment to support the electronics industry in Europe, enhancing the company’s leadership position on the continent. The new facilities will meet the growing demand of the semiconductor markets.

Air Liquide will build, own, and operate three air separation units (ASUs), two hydrogen production plants, and the associated infrastructure to continuously, stably, and reliably supply its customers in the heart of Germany's "Silicon Saxony," the most important European center for semiconductor technologies in Dresden, with ultra-pure nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen, helium, and CO2. The site is expected to become operational in 2027.

These new state-of-the-art production facilities will leverage digital technologies, standardization, and modularization to provide Air Liquide’s customers with outstanding value in terms of reliability and delivery quality. By producing most of the carrier gases required for semiconductor manufacturing on-site, this new facility will contribute to technological advancement while improving the environmental footprint by reducing CO2 emissions associated with truck transportation of the gases. Furthermore, the electricity needed for the operation of the plants will come entirely from renewable sources.

Emilie Mouren-Renouard, member of the Executive Committee of Air Liquide and specifically responsible for the European business, stated: “This new investment reinforces Air Liquide's position as a leading global and European provider for the semiconductor industry and reflects the proven expertise and capability of the company in delivering safe and reliable ultra-pure gases. Supporting our customers in developing pioneering technologies across Europe while simultaneously reducing their CO2 footprint is a key part of our strategy. This investment also strengthens our leadership position in 'Silicon Saxony' and contributes to Europe’s technological sovereignty.”
