It was probably the most important come-together for the electronics industry, the electronica 2024. When the joint booth of the EMS SCOUT drew up the balance sheet with 17 exhibitors at the end of the last setup day in the Munich exhibition halls in November, it was clear: the booth concept of the EMS SCOUT was well received by the trade fair visitors.

"Through our consulting in high-tech electronics, we are closely acquainted with the concerns of small and medium-sized electronics manufacturers in the German-speaking region," says Matthias Holsten, managing director of the eponymous matthias holsten e2 consulting GmbH. "Consequently, we saw that companies of this size particularly need more visibility in the market." Holsten and Künsebeck saw participation with their EMS SCOUT booth at electronica as an opportunity to offer these EMS service providers this presentation platform. "We have always believed that electronica has so far proven to be unattractive for the ranks of smaller EMS providers," adds Michael Künsebeck. Together with the trade fair company, an appropriate stand concept was realized for an expanded community booth of 4,305.56 ft².

It had to be affordable for everyone

Matthias Holsten: "The allocation waves of recent years, the continuously critical geopolitical situation on our doorstep, and the recessionary phase are particularly taxing on medium-sized companies in electronics manufacturing. We were therefore aware that trade fair participation would only be possible for them on a manageable budget." Thus, a powerful full-service package was put together, freeing participants from all organizational and logistical constraints. Even the catering for the trade fair visitors was uniformly resolved. "Even previously trade-fair-inexperienced companies were attracted to our concept. The rush of interested parties surprised us. Instead of the planned ten companies, we were able to gather a total of 17 co-exhibitors under our EMS SCOUT trade fair roof," summarizes Michael Künsebeck.

Already focusing on electronica 2026

All booth participants concluded at the end of the trade fair that the quality and number of contacts made, as well as conversations with existing customers and suppliers, provided a good basis for building better business relationships and deepening existing connections. However, a spirit of optimism was not felt. The still weak order situation and the lack of a silver lining on the horizon towards better times require more than a one-time trade fair event.

Nevertheless, the approach was made for thinking and acting together: the reassuring feeling of being able to participate on the new, still unfamiliar presentation platform that electronica offers, likely made this impact. For Matthias Holsten, Michael Künsebeck, and EMS SCOUT, the participation in the trade fair was positive. Both expressed in unison: "The 'All under one roof' concept worked. Especially because the conversations among the participants of the joint stand showed a kind of community spirit. It became clear that working together leads more to solutions that ultimately affect everyone involved in the EMS market. We are in agreement: in 2026, we want to be there again with our joint stand."
