The robotics manufacturer ABB has opened its redesigned North American headquarters and manufacturing facility for robotics in Auburn Hills, in the state of Michigan. According to an announcement, the company aims to support existing customers and tap into new industries in the USA, including food and beverages, construction, healthcare, and life sciences. ABB also estimates that the annual growth rate in the field of robotics in the USA will be at 8 percent, thus following the global growth. America is already the second-largest robotics market in the world today.

The facility in Auburn Hills has been expanded by 30 percent. A new addition is the Customer Experience Center, where the company intends to showcase its products. In the newly integrated training center, over 3,000 workers and students are expected to be trained annually. The expanded facility will also support ABB Robotics' Packaging and Logistics Hub in Atlanta, Georgia, the Lifesciences and Healthcare Hub at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, and the AI research lab in San Jose, California. ABB's 20-million-dollar investment will also create more than 70 jobs.

The new plant expansion is the latest investment in a long series of investments by the ABB Robotics division of over 30 million US dollars in the USA since 2019, including the headquarters for packaging and logistics in Atlanta, the Lifesciences and Healthcare Research Lab in Houston, and the research and development center in San Jose.
