MR Components significantly increased its production capacity through intelligent automation with Emag machines while simultaneously improving quality. The company specializes in the manufacturing of parts for differential and planetary gearboxes and now produces around 80,000 parts per month, with the machines running partially unmanned in the evening hours.

Alessandro Reguzzo, the founder and managing director of MR Components, started in 1995 with just one CNC lathe in a garage. The business quickly grew, Reguzzo invested in more machines and moved to a larger production hall. In 2006, the construction of the first own production hall with 2,500 square meters was completed. In January 2024, the company finally moved into its new, modern headquarters with 6,000 square meters.

Intelligent automation as the key to success

Reguzzo sees consistent automation of production as the key to success. "The use of automated machines was the key to accelerating production," says Reguzzo.

MR Components relies on Emag machines equipped with integrated measuring probes. "This allows us to check all components 100 percent," explains Reguzzo. "The stable construction and high quality of the machine components are essential in series production to stand out from the competition."

Flexible manufacturing systems for different requirements

The company uses various manufacturing systems from Emag to meet the different production requirements of its customers. "In one of our production lines, we work with VL-7 machines, where the operator manually places the workpieces on the automation belt," Reguzzo explains. "In other production lines, we work with VL-4 machines, equipped with track motion automation. Here, the automation is very fast, and we have higher autonomy, so we can operate the machines in unmanned mode." In addition, there are other manufacturing systems, also VL 4 and VL 6, that are automated with robots. The decision was made for a system with robots because many components, besides turning, need to go through additional processes such as marking, which can be performed very easily and flexibly with the robot.

"Free" production hours in the evening

Through unmanned production in the evening hours, MR Components can significantly increase its production time.

We call this time "free" hours because we can produce without additional personnel costs. This is a great advantage as it is difficult to find staff for the night shift these days.

Alessandro Reguzzo, Founder and Managing Director at MR Components

MR Components has further investments planned for the future. "We plan to use two VL-8 machines in combination with robots to process components with a diameter of up to 450 mm (approx. 17,7 inches)," says Reguzzo. "In addition, we want to further develop the technologies of gearing and assembly to offer our customers even more comprehensive solutions."
